The use of computer and internet is increasing day by day. With the development and advancement of this technology, now we can do most of our work on the computer and internet sitting at one place. We can book tickets, cancel tickets, check our bank accounts, play games, chat with our friends and there are lot more things which we can do. But, as we all know that advancement of technology leads to both good and bad effects, however bad effects seem to be higher.
Many fraudulent activities are going on online. Some of them are auction fraud cases, online shopping frauds, credit card fraud cases and Phishing scams. Phishing scams are threats on email and emails which have attractive offers for which they ask for personal account details and address details. They may also contain certain links and if the link is clicked all the information from our computer system can be tracked by the fraudulent people; our computer system may also get attacked by viruses. They may even hack our accounts, ids, passwords and can even disable our accounts.
As we all know that without computer and internet all activity can get paralyzed, therefore we must take steps to eradicate online fraudulent activities. Online fraud prevention is necessary and has to be done by us only. Every individual must contribute towards it. We must take care about the following points while online:
- One should avoid opening spam messages and it is advisable to delete them from the mail box.
- If there is a pop up window asking to click on a certain link, one must always read the details properly and with utmost vigilance and click only if he/she feels it necessary.
- It is advised to close your mailbox without signing off
- When you create any account online the password which you give must be unique so that it cannot be identified.
